Holy Assumption School is a brick, ranch style
building located along Hornberger Avenue in the historic village
of Roebling. Our school contains nine classrooms and a cafeteria
with a fully equipped kitchen for preparing hot lunches. The
cafeteria serves as an all-purpose room for all school related
activities, such as indoor physical education classes and
assemblies. There is also a principal's office, faculty room,
secretary's office, nurse's room, boiler room, and restroom
facilities. The students attend Wednesday Mass in Holy Assumption
Church. The church also houses our library, computer room, and art
room.
Each classroom is well lit and contains two ceiling fans for
ventilation. There are smoke detectors in each classroom. Each
teacher attractively decorates her classroom in an age appropriate
decor that enhances the educational environment. There are
televisions with VCRs available to show videos on an appropriate
subject and computers are also in use.
Our exterior doors are equipped with automatic locks that allow
the students to exit freely during fire drills, but keep out
unwanted visitors. The students are instructed not to open doors
to visitors, and only an adult admits visitors. This safety
feature at our doors, along with the camera at the front doors, is
meant to keep all our children from harm.
We have a large playground area. This area consists of metal
swing sets and climbing bars with sand as the bottom-protecting
environment. There is a full-court basketball area and playing
fields that can accommodate intramural activities such as soccer,
softball, baseball, or touch football. There are posts in place
for volleyball activities.
